Opening

I am always looking for highly motivated undergraduate interns, master's students, and visiting students (both from within and outside the university) who are interested in Bioinformatics, Artificial Intelligence, and AI for Science (AI4Science). Remote collaboration is welcome, and no background in biomedical sciences is required. If you’re interested, please send your CV to: lantianyao@xmu.edu.cn. I will reply to all emails with a proper subject line.

I provide high-quality one-on-one research mentorship, access to computational resources needed for your research, opportunities to attend and present at international and domestic academic conferences, support for publishing academic papers, living stipends, and guidance on job placement or further studies. I maintain close collaborations with top universities around the world, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong. For students who are diligent and committed, I will do everything I can to support their growth. Most of the students I have mentored have published research papers and continued their studies at world-renowned institutions such as Harvard University, HKU, CUHK, and Westlake University.

Short Bio

I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2025. I am currently an Assistant Professor and Master’s Supervisor at the School of Informatics, Xiamen University.

My research lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, life sciences, and medicine, where I develop advanced machine learning algorithms to address critical problems in biomedicine. Over the past three years, I have published 30+ high-quality SCI papers in leading journals in the field, including 6 papers in Nucleic Acids Research and 5 papers in Briefings in Bioinformatics, with 1500+ citations.

My long-term goal is to integrate information technology (IT) with biotechnology (BT) into innovative drug discovery frameworks, with the aim of strengthening healthcare systems and improving human health.
